Welcome to The Great Morel

The Great Morel™ extends a very warm welcome to all its morel mushroom hunting visitors! The morels have sadly slipped away and while the 2019 season has passed us by, we are all left with the memories of the good and the bad. The great morel made its final push north, and the cycle of a season has once again wound down into memories of the season past. For most, Mother Nature left its impact on the season and while some may say “it could have been kinder”, many reports were pretty darn good this year. Sadly, we now wait for the cycle of the seasons Mother Nature bestows on us before we can once again take part in this annual ritual – the hunt for ever-elusive great morel.

it is about the annual ritual of the hunt for ever-elusive great morel

All-in-all, the weather seems to have been a bit more cooperative for most throughout the 2019 season then it was in the 2018 season. Although, above average precipitation levels in some regions was a bummer, overall it was still much better year than 2018. A quick recap of the 2019 season…which was a decent year to remember for most, can be reviewed here at the  2019 Season Summary report. As we all know, the 2019 season was once again a testament to the successes and failures of a morel season and how much nature and the weather can play havoc on the life of the morel.  You can check out the sightings page for a summary of the season in the various regions of the US and Canada.
