We live in the NC mountains, and the elevation where these were found is right at 4000 feet, but some areas around here like Mount Mitchell and Grandfather Mountain are at or well over 6000 feet with lots of micro-climates. Thus our season tends to run from mid-April until at least Mother's Day. I have found morels in some wet northeast-facing ravines as late as the first of June. These were found in an old apple and crabapple orchard with lots of mature ash trees as well.
