Black Elfin Saddle False Morel
A Black Elfin Saddle false morel in the redwoods near Philo , CALIF in Nov. 2008 - courtesy of Jeff Duncan in California
"I was able to identify it as Helvella lacunose (Fluted Black Elfin Saddle), and thought it would be a good pic for your false morel page. It is VERY attractive and not in keeping with the ugliness of the majority of the false morels."
Note from The Great Morel: the false morel is extremely toxic and should not be ingested!
Please check out the Identifying the False Morel page.
